The Old National Gallery of BerlinBerlin has always attracted a great number of people who take interest in painting. There are more than twenty renowned art galleries in this city, and they can suit the demands of the most sophisticated connoisseurs. In this article, I would like to speak about the exhibition that I attended in The Old National Gallery several weeks ago.
Overall, the Old National Gallery hosts a variety of artworks. The majority of them represent such movements as Romanticism, Impressionism, and Modernism. I went to this gallery to see the pictures by European and American artists who created the works after the World War II. One of them is Frank Stella; I am particularly fond of his impressionist painting called The Michael Kohlhaas Curtain . Maybe, this comparison seems too far-fetched, but this picture reminds me of Picasso’s Guernica , at least in terms of style. In this picture, Frank Stella attempted to describe the inconsistency and sometimes absurdity of modern life by means of abstract images and symbols. |
